Ready-to-wear brand Cacharel has entrusted famous French architect Jean Nouvel with the task of reimagining its stores in France. The brand, first created in 1958, has been given a new design, a new identity, and a more modern calling.
First Flagship Boutique in Paris
Cacharel’s first location in Paris, a sprawling boutique of 460 sq. ft. spread over two floors, opened its doors in the capital’s posh in the posh Saint-Germain-des-Près neighborhood on the Rive Gauche at 10-40 rue de Buci.
From the street, one’s eyes are immediately drawn to the Impressionist-inspired pattern specially designed for the boutique. This pattern continues into the building, where it runs along a large, 13-foot-tall backlit wall on the first floor.
Between the visually stunning décor, mixing geometric lines and artistic patterns, the natural oak floors, and the red-reflected wall panels, the boutiques truly compliment the brand’s style.
The furniture, monolithic custom-made masses of wood used as display stands and merchandise storage, add to the floor’s geometry. Even the hanging racks contain light fixtures to illuminate the walls, ceilings, and clothes.
Spreading Throughout France
More boutiques, also designed by Jean Nouvel, opened their doors in five other French cities: Strasbourg in August 2016, and then Marseille, Nîmes, and Lille in September.
Boutiques are set to be opened in the not-so-distant future in cities throughout the world to create a network of franchises (London, Berlin, Milan, Moswcow).

Cacharel, an accessible ready-to-wear brand created by Jean Bousquet, creates creative and romantic collections for men, women, and children.
Over the past few decades, several designers have contributed to the production of Cacharel’s collections, including Coco Zoé, Agnès B, Azzedine Alaïa, Corinne Cobson, Lolita Lempicka, Junko Shimada, the Clements Ribeiro, Eley Kishimoto, Cédric Charlier and Ling Liu and Dawei Sun.
