Brunch is a sacred routine at the weekend – and in Paris there’s no shortage of places to go, whether you want a classic plateful (scrambled eggs and bacon, pancakes or brioche) or something super healthy (an açaï bowl, granola with almond milk, avocado on toast…). Here are some our favourite spots for a mid-morning munch.
On Sunday, at the Alcazar, Angèle Maeght Ferreux, queen of the healthy food, is in charge. Enough to satisfy the appetite of lovers of vegetable cooking and all those who want to brunch otherwise. On the menu, as much as you like: açaï bowl, yoghurt and vegetable milk accompanied by homemade granola and almond puree, gluten-free breads and cakes, fresh fruit juices and hot drinks (coffee, tea matcha latte ...). A salad and excellent porridge are also to be shared. You will then have to choose between several main dishes: avocado toast, farm chicken, vegetarian burger with Ossau-Iraty cheese, or tataki salmon ... All in a sumptuous setting, where cozy sofas and hanging plants rub shoulders.
Practical information: 62, rue Mazarine, Paris 6th, booking recommended; set brunch €38 (Sundays only).

Wild and the moon
Hanging plants, wooden tables, friendly staff behind the bar... you’ll feel right at home here, and you can brunch at any time of day. The menu is 100% vegetarian and gluten-free, full of delicious curries, soups and focaccias that appeal to everyone. For pudding, there’s an acai bowl with granola (excellent), chia pudding or apple tarte tatin. Besides traditional coffee, you can enjoy unctuous chai or matcha green tea lattes and very good cold-pressed juices.

In just a few years, Super Nature has become a real hotspot on Rue de Trevise, with a takeaway at number 8, a canteen at number 12 and a café-restaurant at number 15. Set brunches are served at the Canteen on Sundays. On the menu, among others: fresh fruit juice, brioche, white cheese and house muesli, egg casserole and guacamole. It's organic, it's fresh ... and it's always very good. Outside the brunch, we highly recommend the home-made cheesecake, a delight!
Practical information: 12 rue de Trévise, Paris 9th; set brunch €24 (Sundays only).

And for an extra-indulgent brunch…
Part of the popular Big Mamma chain (Ober Mamma, East Mamma), the Big Love Caffé opened in November 2016 and appeals to both Italy lovers and gluten-free diners. If you come in the evening, pizza is the star (gluten-free, and cooked in a wood-burning oven), but you can also enjoy all-day brunch every day of the week. On the menu: eggs Benedict, brioche with Amalfi lemons, or some seriously kick-ass pancakes with ricotta and blueberries. BigLove Caffé also has a quirky setting, with large comfortable bench seats beneath a canopy, plus a great Italian grocery.
Practical information: 30 rue Debelleyme, Paris 3rd; no bookings taken; no set brunch (à la carte dishes €15-24); all-day service (8am-11pm).
Big Love Caffé Paris
In this Australian-style cafe run by Sarah and Nico, you’ll be addressed in English and served excellent seasonal food. Sunday brunch changes every week, but regularly features pancakes with whipped cream, pecans, maple syrup and fresh fruit. You can also order perfect eggs cooked to your liking, on toast with a multitude of extras (bacon, cheese, mushrooms). Holybelly’s coffee all comes from the Brûlerie de Belleville. It’s been such a hit – immediately evident from the queues – that a second café opened in spring 2017.
Practical information: 19 rue Lucien Sampaix, Paris 10th; no bookings taken; no set brunch (à la carte dishes around €15); Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (last orders 2.15); weekends 10am-5pm (last orders 3.15).
