The resort of Alpe d’Huez will host the famous Belgian electro music festival from 9-16 March 2019. Tomorrowland expects no less than 30,000 “people of tomorrow” on the other side of the border, for this first winter version. Under the theme ‘The Hymn of The Frozen Lotus’, music fans will dance to the live sets of some of the greatest DJs in the world.
This will be an exclusive experience at the foot of the slopes, with fantastic scenes, ‘frozen’ experiences and a unique atmosphere that only festival-goers will be able to enjoy. The 7-day package goes on sale on 8 September from 5pm, and the 4-day package on 15 September from 5pm. More information on the official website.

Already renowned as a rendez-vous for all clubbers in Val d’Isère, Cocorico has now been exported to Tignes, at the foot of the funicular in Val Claret. After an intense day on the slopes, après-skiers can warm up from 4pm and enjoy a drink on the vast terrace, with music provided by handpicked DJs and groups. Over in Val d’Isère, the new La Daille gondola will allow much faster access to the slopes of La Folie Douce – all in a space redesigned to carry three times as many party animals. No more excuses to go straight back to your chalet… the party will be just a step away.

Recently, hostels aimed at the new generation have begun to emerge in the mountains. Accommodation such as the Rocky Pop Hotel in Chamonix, the H-036 in Les Menuires and La Plagne, the 1861 Châtel Hostel or the People Hostel in Les Deux Alpes address a young audience in search of human experiences and conviviality as they move from place to place. In Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, La Folie Douce is opening its first hotel, with a hostel category from €37 per night.
Now that climate issues are becoming a priority, the mountains have focused themselves on the environment for the past few years. This is the case for Serre Chevalier, Tignes-Val d’Isère and the Grand Massif ski area having won the Green Globe prize (the first international certification dedicated to the sustainable development of tourism) for their sustainable development and social responsibility programs. Protecting nature and wildlife, promoting energy awareness and reducing the carbon footprint are among the actions taken by these two resorts.
