Want a "Made in France" family holiday that combines the great outdoors, spatial experiences and also includes a bit of history and culture? Then it is to Toulouse Pyrénées that your train must take you! Located in South West France, the Toulouse Pyrénées region and its many treasures promise an action packed agenda! A new train adventure is about to begin!
Conquering Air and Space in Toulouse
Take the TGV from Paris to get to Toulouse - capital city and convenient gateway to the region. Pink City Toulouse offers two fascinating attractions for the kids: Cité de l'Espace and Aeroscopia. Your journey is made simply by numerous shuttle buses providing easy access to both attractions.
An encounter with space awaits you at the Cité de l'Espace - an adventure park and a happy hunting ground for family outings. Encounter the cosmos at its IMAX® cinema that has a screen as high as a 6 foot storey building or discover unknown astronomical worlds at the vaulted 360 degree screen of its planetarium. The Moon Runner simulator gives your budding cosmonauts a chance to walk on the moon! Feel all "spatial" at the Mir station, or onboard the Soyuz spacecraft or prepare to "mock" launch on the Ariane 5 rocket!
Aviation history comes alive at the Aeroscopia museum that is located next to the Airbus factory premises. Invite your kids to climb aboard a real Concorde, an Airbus 330B, an A400M and the Super Guppy. Admire a collection of aircrafts, go behind the scenes of an aircraft, or navigate your own flight thanks to a simulator session! Combine your Aeroscopia outing with a visit of the assembly lines of the A380 - the giant bird of the skies - which finds a home in the Airbus factory.
A rendezvous with the sky awaits you at the Pic du Midi located 2hrs 30 minutes from Toulouse. Located at 3000 m above sea level, access the summit with a cable car ride. Outstanding panoramas of the Pyrénées mountain range greet you on arrival. Include a visit to the museum which allows you to safely look at the sun with the use of filters, mirrors and lenses. Our favourite recommendation is the Starry Nights Experience: Between April - October, the Pic du Midi organises daily astronomical evenings which include a visit to the museum, dinner at the restaurant, views of the sunset and observations of the night-time sky - galaxies, planets and stars. Make the experience even more special with a stay at the tallest hotel in Europe, found on the Pic du Midi. With only 17 rooms, it's a privileged few who have the chance to sleep under a canopy of stars and wake up in time to catch a magnificent sunrise!
