The Ardèche – nature’s playground

Forests with an altitude of between 300m and 1,000m, contrasting relief, lakes and world-famous gorges which have dug canyons along their path… all these natural features have made the Ardèche the perfect destination for a whole range of outdoor pursuits.
In fact, the region is the ideal destination for everyone, whether your preference is for gentle pursuits or more exhilarating adventures!

The Ardèche is criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails. Here, you can stride out along more than 600km of “Grandes Randonnées” (GR), 750km of “Sentiers de Pays” (GR de Pays) and over 4,500km of other footpaths.

A fan of adrenalin-infused activities? With a relief that is perfect for canyoning through its mountains and along its rivers and streams, the Ardèche is the ideal setting in which to enjoy this particular activity. Accompanied by a professional instructor, you can enjoy climbing, swimming and hiking all at the same time. Invigorating adventure guaranteed!

Why not tackle the Gorges de l’Ardèche by canoe? The 35km descent of the gorges (which includes 25 rapids) is an unmissable challenge for those keen to experience an exhilarating canoeing adventure. The descent can be completed in a day or, better still, two days, with a night under canvas in the heart of this nature reserve. For families, or those who prefer not to undertake the full distance, a mini 7km descent is also possible.
