The end of the state of health emergency and restrictions for French and international travellers in August 2022 does not mean that there is no need to be vigilant in the face of Covid-19. Here are our tips and recommendations for a healthy and worry-free holiday in France.
Wearing a mask
Wearing a mask is no longer compulsory for travellers visiting France, but is still recommended in the following situations:

On public transport (on trains, underground trains, buses, planes, in stations and airports) and in crowded enclosed areas.

During large indoor gatherings, but also outdoors if you are elderly or suffering from a medical condition.

If you are in the presence of an elderly person, immunosuppressed or suffering from a chronic illness.

If you yourself are elderly or immunocompromised.

If you visit a hospital while on holiday in France or visit a relative in an old people's home (doctors' surgeries, health centres, pharmacies and medical analysis laboratories may also require you to wear a mask).

If you have symptoms or are considered to be a contact case, in order to limit the spread of the virus.
Hygiene measures
Simple, effective barrier measures are recommended to limit the circulation of Covid-19 and other viruses, such as getting into the habit of washing your hands several times a day with soap. You can buy hydro-alcoholic gel when you visit a pharmacy or certain local shops. Hydroalcoholic solutions are also available in many places open to the public: tourist sites, hotels and shops.
The lifting of restrictions in brief

The Europe-wide digital screening system (SI-DEP), in the form of a Covid certificate enabling data to be collected from consenting individuals, remains in force until 30 June 2023.

People who test positive are no longer subject to a period of isolation from 1 February 2023. People who are contact cases are also exempt from screening tests.

End of the health pass on 1 August 2022.

End of compulsory masks on public transport since 16 May 2022 and on ski lifts in ski resorts since 2 February 2022.

End of the vaccination pass since 14 March 2022.
And in the French Overseas Departments and Territories?
The lifting of restrictions in mainland France also applies to the French overseas territories.
Health pass, formalities, proof of travel, certificate of non-contamination or undertaking to carry out a screening test on arrival on French soil, all the measures are no longer applicable since 1 August 2022.
These restrictions have also been lifted for travellers between mainland France and an overseas territory.
Travellers from China

Since 16 February 2023, international visitors from China have no longer been required to present a negative PCR test carried out in the 48 hours preceding their trip or to undergo random screening.

Although no longer compulsory, wearing a mask on board aircraft from China is still recommended.

People making a stopover in a third country on their way out of China to France are advised to find out about the conditions applicable to transits.
