From September to December 2019, on the occasion of the eighth and final season of the most broadcast series in the world, Bayeux will exhibit the ‘Game of Thrones Tapestry’ – an 80-metre-long work on display at the Hôtel du Doyen.
To immortalise the places and adventures of the heroes of the saga, the Irish Tourist Office has designed a giant work inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry in Normandy. The original 11th-century work, its ‘big sister’, is UNESCO-listed and tells the story of the conquest of England by William the Conqueror.
A must-see exhibit
The Game of Thrones Tapestry is a 80-metre-long, medieval-style, hand-embroidered linen canvas from one of Northern Ireland’s last factories, one of the iconic landmarks of the series. There’s nothing better to fully you in the world of Game of Thrones.
An unusual immersion in the history of Game of Thrones
This exhibition is set to be a real tourist attraction. Each season of the series has been painstakingly embroidered and will propel visitors into the fantastic universe of Game of Thrones, as they have fun recognising the characters: Daenerys the mother of dragons, Jon Snow from the Night's Watch, Arya Stark, Cersei Lannister and many others!
