La Foulée Blanche at Autrans in the Alps

The Foulée Blanche will return to the Alps between 3 and 7 February 2018. This 40th running of the event promises to be action packed with many races on the programme.

The 40th Foulée Blanche will begin on Saturday 3 February with its traditional classic races, followed in the evening by a huge party. Saturday will also see the Foulée Blanche Entreprise event for companies and their employees; this year’s event is entitled 50 companies to mark the 50th anniversary of the Grenoble Winter Olympics. In teams of eight, companies will have the opportunity to complete in a biathlon challenge that celebrates the values of the Olympic spirit, take part in the Foulée Classique races, and attend a fascinating conference chaired by former French Olympic biathlete Marie-Laure Brunet.

The following day, the 40th Foulée Blanche will be celebrated with many events structured around the long-distance skating races for which the event is famous. The long-distance (50 km) Nordic skiing race continues to contribute to the overall classification of the Marathon Ski Tour (the French Long-Distance Ski Challenge).

Monday 5 February will be devoted to the heritage and history of the Foulée, Nordic skiing and the Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors Winter Olympics. There will be no racing that day, which will be devoted to meeting, greeting and personal interaction, film screenings and many other highlights currently in preparation.

Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 February will be devoted to younger skiers, as primary school, secondary school and sixth-form college students with high aspirations as Nordic skiers and representing 26 delegations compete in the first Winter Schools Games.
