Cooksound in Forcalquier

From July 19 to 22, the festival that mixes music, gastronomy, and cinema will double its efforts for its summer event in the Haute-Provence Alps. The theme for the eighth edition will be the Carribean.

The event has something to whet anyone's appetite, literal or musical: tastings of culinary creations based on organic, seasonal, and often local products, outdoor film screenings, and concerts with Cuban, Jamaican and West Indian flavors. It will be a feast concocted by the Cooksound festival in its eighth edition, held at the Cordeliers Convent of Forcalquier, one of the oldest Franciscan convents in France.
In this magical place, with true medieval decor and a garden of cypress trees and old stones, tastings and dinners on shared tables and free concerts will take place. The beautiful open cloister will host the paid concerts.

Crisp cod beignets, coconut-flavored fish, and Creole rolls will awaken the taste buds.

This year's event celebrates gastronomy, with 50 chefs of the Alliance by Institut Paul Bocuse group from 17 countries. They will be creating culinary delights to be discovered throughout the festival. Crisp cod beignets, coconut-flavored fish, and Creole rolls will awaken the taste buds.

On the musical side, Caribbean flair will be front and center this year with the Cuban groups Nueva Trova Cubana and Ruben Paz, DJ Runo La Camioneta, and the Marseillaises artists David Walters and Baja Frequencia, who mix electro and hip-hop with Caribbean tones. Kabba Massa Gana Sound System will revisit the musical history of Jamaica and host a Caribbean barbecue to be held on the Place du Palais on Sunday, July 22nd.

This year, an ephemeral village, "Lodg'Ing," installed in Saint-Michel-l'Observatoire with about twenty canvas tents of 25 m² each, will welcome festival-goers in search of unusual accommodation close to the event.
