Christmas shopping in Paris 2015 Paris fr

You know that the holidays have arrived in Paris when little wooden chalets start popping up around the city. These Christmas markets – created in the tradition of those found in the North-eastern region of Alsace – bring a warm and magical Christmassy atmosphere to Paris.

So what could be more magical than spending Christmas in Paris? A Christmas shopping trip can provide you the ideal excuse to travel to France. Paris will absolutely make your shopping trip unforgettable! Shops glow with colourful Christmas displays, patisserie shelves are filled with seasonal delights, restaurants create special Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day menus that are filled with seasonal ingredients such as fresh oysters from Brittany, foie gras, truffles, chestnuts and champagne.

The 150,000 Christmas lights that decorate the Champs Elysee are well known, but only the tip of the iceberg. The streets and large department stores such as Galleries Lafayette compete with each other to produce the most impressive Christmas decorations and Christmas windows. Also Christmas concerts are performed throughout the city at some very famous venues such as: La Sainte Chapelle, Notre Dame, Palais Garnier and La Madeleine.
