Experience the 2017 ISA World Surfing Games in Biarritz, France

Beach, salt water, and great waves! Biarritz in the south of France will deliver the waves for the world championships in surfing 2017.

Most European surfers have heard about Biarritz - a southwest French coastal town, which attracts thousands of surfers every year with its waves, surfing festivals, and surfing schools.
However, 2017 will be a year out of the ordinary when star surfers and surfing nerds from all over the world flocks to Biarritz' beaches to participate in and witness the world championships in surfing.
Ever since the first surfers tried the city's waves in 1957, surfing has been the most popular sport in Biarritz - and over the last 60 years, the area has become more and more known for its vast waves and more than 150 kilometers of unspoiled beaches. So known, that the city today is considered to be the surfing capital of Europe.

The world class waves of Biarritz

It's the first time in 9 years that ISA World Surfing Games takes place in Europe and an obvious opportunity to get close to the big stars and perhaps learn some new technique. The last time Biarritz hosted the world championships was in 1980.
"France is a great surfing destination and Biarritz, in particular, is a wonderful coastal city transformed by surfing in the last decades. The world-class waves of Biarritz will be a perfect place to showcase our sport on the road to Tokyo 2020," said ISA President Fernando Aguerre at the revelation of Biarritz's host company.

The World Championships will take place from the 20th to the 28th of May, and alongside the championships, there will be a number of cultural activities in Biarritz.
