Côte d'Azur: the Fête du Citron® in Menton
After the theme of Cineccittà and Italian cinema last year, this year's Fête du Citron in Menton® is all about Broadway and musical comedies.
Cross the Atlantic and head to the United States to take a bite out of the Big Apple. Living the American Dream, John Lemon invites you to stroll down the famous New York avenue and (re)discover some of the most famous musical comedies, from the 1930s to today.
Broadway in Menton means you can sing under the Mediterranean sun as you're "singing in the rain," from Mary Poppins to the music hall, with Dorothy and her loyal Toto down the yellow brick road or at the annual ball in Cats.
From February 11 to March 1, you can take the stage and become the star of your favorite musical comedy. The curtain will really rise once the sun goes down. Festivities will start on Friday, February 10 at 8:30 at the Jardin de Lumières, where you'll be able to get a sneak preview of the 84th Fête du Citron.
Saturday, February 11, from 2:00, the first visitors can open the doros of the Jardins Biovès to discover the citrus-based decorations celebrating notable figures in the New York theatre scene. Once evening comes, make sure to get all dolled up - the brightest avenue in Manhattan is waiting for a night under the stars of the Jardin des Lumières (February 10, 17, and 24 at 8:30). Under the projectors' lights, the citrus decorations will illuminate and give life to the biggest Box Office stars like Liza Minelli, Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly.
But what would the Fête du Citron® be without its Corsos des Fruits (Fruit Parade)? (February 12, 19, and 26 at 2:30 PM).
A must-see event, and certainly one of the most important on the Côte d'Azur. Spectators can partake in the show with various muscial troupes and acrobat artists between citrus floats. The parades will divide into two nighttime shows on the Thursdays of February 16 and 23 at 8:30, follows by fireworks.
The decorations are planted - literally! All that's left is you. Book your tickets now for the 84th Edition of the Fête du Citron®!
