"Christian Dior, dream designer" exhibition at Arts Décoratifs in Paris 107 rue de Rivoli Paris fr

The Musée des Arts décoratifs is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the house of Christian Dior. This rich, densely-packed exhibition invites visitors to discover the world of its founder and the renowned fashion designers who have succeeded him: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and just recently Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Emotions, stories, affinities, inspirations, creations and affiliations unite this selection of more than 300 haute couture dresses designed between 1947 and today. Next to them are fashion canvases and
photographs, presented for the first time in such exhaustive detail, as well as several hundred documents (illustrations, sketches, reportage, letters and manuscripts, advertising documents, etc.) and fashion accessories (hats, jewellery, bags, shoes, perfume bottles, etc.).

Chronological and thematic pathways

Christian Dior was also a man of art and a lover of museums. His creations of the last 70 years stand in dialogue with the paintings, furniture and artistic objects. These works emphasise and prolong the vision of Christian Dior, exploring the links he created between haute couture and all forms of art, defining the mark of the brand. The two commissioners, Florence Müller and Olivier Gabet, have based their concept on both a thematic and a chronological pathway, uniting and presenting the spaces dedicated to fashion with those of the main museum, brought together for the first time in an area of more than 3000 square metres.
